CADS SCHOOLING SHOW RULES

Note: These rules are provided here as a convenience, however the official copy of the rules are the printed version in our show bill. Please contact our show manager Becky Tomko if you would like a copy.
  1. USDF and USEF rules will be followed at these competitions.
  2. Entries: CADS members will be charged $20 per dressage test, and $25 per team test. Non-members will be charged $30 per dressage test and $35 per team test. Entries must be postmarked on or after the opening date and no later than closing date of each show. A $5.00 office fee will be charged per entry.
  3. Full payment, LEGIBLY completed entry form and signature of rider and owner are required with each entry. No entries or additions to entries will be accepted by phone. Please make checks payable to CADS and send it to: Becky Tomko, 260 Township Road 350, Sullivan, OH 44880. No cash will be accepted.
  4. CADS reserves the right to limit entries, to add, combine or cancel classes, and to make any changes required by the circumstances of the show, including show start times and number of horses per rider.
  5. CADS members will be given first consideration in filling classes provided entries are received in accordance with the rules.
  6. Scratches and refunds: The show secretary should be notified immediately if you cannot attend so that people on the waiting list can be contacted. CADS’ members will be given first consideration for any open classes. Refunds will be considered only with a vet certificate presented to the show secretary within 3 days after the show and is left to the secretary’s discretion. A credit may be granted for future shows.
  7. Each rider will be allowed up to three (3) dressage tests per horse per show if space permits.
  8. Divisions: All classes will be divided into Young Rider & Adult – 6 ribbons will be awarded per class.
  9. Attire: Formal attire and braiding are not required. However, care should be given to presenting a neat appearance to the judge. Riding breeches and boots (jodhpurs and paddock boots for young riders) are to be worn. A plain collared shirt must be worn; coats are not required. HARD HATS MUST BE WORN AT ALL TIMES WHILE MOUNTED.
  10. Numbers: There is no charge for numbers; however, you will be billed $2 for each number not returned to the show office.
  11. Tack checks: CADS regulations correspond to the dressage regulations set forth in the USEF Rule Book. Knowledge of and compliance with these rules is the responsibility of the competitor and test reader. Elimination will result for any violation.
  12. Schooling will be allowed in the show arenas for up to ½ hour prior to the start of the show and during the lunch break. Lungeing is not permitted in the show arena.
  13. Substitutions: If for some reason, a substitute rider is needed during a show, the judge’s permission is required, the show manager must be informed and the substitute rider can only ride hors concours. (These scores do not count toward class ribbons or year end awards.)
  14. Day stalls are usually available at all four locations and will be filled if you request it on your entry form. A fee of $20 is charged for each stall. The Show Manager will contact you if availability becomes a problem at any of these locations. Please include payment on the entry form. No first bedding will be provided. Ashland Fairgrounds is the only show location which will allow overnight stays. Please contact the Show Manager if you are planning on arriving Friday night. There is an overnight charge for your rig and for the use of the stalls.
